Fargo Marathon

On a Thursday we drove up to Fargo, North Dakota and checked into a hotel. 

Kids woke up at 6:30 the next morning asking, “Can we put on our swimsuits now?” We ate breakfast, went swimming, met Arne, Justus, David Cenchina, Brian and Chelsea + 2 boys at a river landing. The kids threw rocks in the river and explored. We toured a Viking ship. Ate at IHOP. Went swimming at the other hotel (way cooler with 4 slides for young kids!) Finn went up and down the slide 30 times. Jonah, Grace and Olivia wore life jackets and played in the deep end. Had pizza and pop in the hotel.

The next morning was the marathon! I had my kids, Arne had Ethan and Gavin (Chelsea's kids). It was kind of crazy getting to a good spot to watch the runners. Ezra ran 3:08! Brian was next, then Chelsea at 3:53! Justus and David Cenchina also ran. After the race and shower we drove the 9 miles home. Arrived at midnight.

Race Day

At the last minute we signed up for a race in Cedar Rapids - a 10K for Ezra and a 1-mile race for Annabelle, Jonah and Grace. Perfect, beautiful day for a race!

The kids were excited to get race packets, complete with cool T-shirts, time chips for their shoes, neat change-a-color pencils, swimming goggles... they loved the "goody bags"!
Ezra ran first and did a great job. The course had a few big hills but he ran well and finished 1st in his age group! Then the kid's race started. Annabelle and Jonah took off. Ezra ran with Grace.
Grace ran the whole way and finished in 9 minutes and 40 seconds! Wowza! Jonah ran the whole way, too, and finished in 8:53. Woah! He placed 3rd in his grade for boys.
Annabelle finished 1st in her grade with a time of 8:13! That was even with a fall, scraping the knees, and walking a bit before running again. I had no idea these kids could run so well! I would have a hard time keeping up!
Great job, everyone! The kids also loved the drinks and food afterwards. And their was a bouncy house set up to play in while we were waiting beforehand. Great race. Great set-up for kids.

Easter 2011

Russ and Charity wedding pictures

My younger brother Russell and his bride Charity were married Sat Apr 16 in the San Diego Temple. The sealer talked about our potential as a married couple. Also about being kind to each other. The ceremony was wonderful.

Everyone looked beautiful together.
