Annabelle was baptized Aug 21, 2010. What a very special day! Grandma Susan gave her a very special white dress for the occasion.
We feel lucky to have so many family members who could come for this special event.
Each of Annabelle's Grandma's gave a talk at the baptism and did a superb job. The cousins who were old enough to be in primary together sang a special musical number: "I Know that My Savior Loves Me." They did an excellent job with the words, and their tender voices were just heavenly. So sweet. Before the meeting was over the bishop asked each grandpa to share their testimony also. So we heard lots of stories throughout the meeting.
Grandma Slaugh told of how she was baptized in the Mississippi River by a missionary and sat on a large rock for the confirmation.
Grandma Susan said that when she was baptized, her mother, brother and Grandmother were there with her, but no one else in the family. Her brother baptized her. She also told a story of when Ezra was 10 years old and at a friend's house for a party. At the party they started watching a movie that Ezra knew he would not be allowed to watch at his own house. He felt the spirit telling him he shouldn't watch, so he left the room. When the mother found out, she changed the movie so everyone could watch together, and called Susan to let her know what a good choice he had made.
Grandpa Arne related that as his baptism was approaching, he was very excited for the big day, but his Great Uncle who lived far away died and his father was asked to speak at the funeral. Arne was given the choice to postpone the baptism for a month until his father returned, or keep the date and have someone else perform the ordinance. He chose to keep the date.
Grandpa Slaugh said he'd been thinking of climbing trees. Memories with grandkids are special, but ones like baptisms are extra special and will be treasured.

How lucky to live reasonably close to both sides of the family. Annabelle looks very pretty in her beautiful white dress!
