Our final day in Peru was spent flying from Cusco to Lima, then we had a several hour wait until our flight back to the USA. So we decided to use our time visiting a museum of pre-Columbian artifacts (historical artifacts dating from earliest times up until the native cultures were influenced by Europeans).
Wowza! Gaudy headpieces, nose pieces, earrings, and necklaces.
The people worshipped the sun. Wearing these gold ornaments would reflect the sunlight, giving the impression that the wearer was part of the sun, or powerful like the sun, or something along those lines.
And tons and tons of pottery...
And we headed back to the airport. Our flight didn't leave until midnight. We flew through the night, arriving Sunday morning. A friend picked us up from the airport. We had a few minutes home by ourselves (very anti-climatic!) before the kids came home from church with Grandma Susan and Grandpa Arne, who took care of our kids all week. So good to see our kids again!! I missed them! Thank you, thank you, we can't thank you enough to grandparents who took care of our kids so that Ezra and I could have this amazing experience together!
