KC Temple Open House

We are excited that the new KC temple is a short 45 minute drive from the Basehor house. We went to the open house April 14, 2012. The open house was lovely. Jonah and Annabelle were right up in front, close to the tour guide always, listening closely to everything she said. We all admired the stained glass in all the windows, baptismal font and oxen, glass lamps, large crystal chandeliers, paintings everywhere, even gold drinking fountains! This was a wonderful experience.

Later in the day we made a quick visit with Marge and Loyd in Topeka, then back in Basehor we had dinner and birthday cake for me made by Jennifer.
Grandmpa Slaugh made some small wooden boats. The kids raced them in the large puddle out front. So they all waded in the puddle, then all took baths.

After church on Sunday Jonah, Finn and I went on a walk to see the cows across the street from Gpa's subdivision. Finn got excited about pinecones all over the sidewalk.

While we were in Kansas, Ezra was in Boston, staying with Eric and Michelle Lambi. He ran the Boston Marathon! The race started at 10am, the temperature was already in the 70's. Expected high: 89 degrees. He knew he wouldn't be able to run as well as he wanted. He drank extra and followed his heart rate. He started out at 7:15 pace, ending at 8 min/mile pace. Time: 3:31:52. Over 500 people were hospitalized. Heading back to Eric's house, Ezra found a couple other guys disoriented. Ezra helped them cool down and called the ambulance for them. Adventurous day!
