May

Saturday, May 17, 2014: A 5K school fundraiser. Olivia and Finn were signed up to run the 1 mile. But Olivia got shy or scared when it was time to run and leave Mom behind. She clung to me. Of course Finn stayed, too. Shauntel Anderson was right there, a friend's mom. She said she'd run with them and help them catch up to the group. They were ok with that, and started running, but they didn't make it too far before Finn decided he would never be able to catch up, so he stopped and cried. So they came walking back to me and we sat and sulked. Oh well. We still supported our school.

Annabelle and Grace were signed up to run the 5K. They did great! About 34 minutes.

Practicing fun buns for upcoming dance recitals.

Letter learning for Finn

May 21, 2014: We have to review letters quite a bit before they stick in Finn's mind. I have to get creative with it. Finn is usually not at all interested in worksheets or coloring or paper crafts. His fine motor skills are slow to develop. So I was surprised when one day Finn came to me and asked, "Mom, how do you spell 'Welcome Home Daddy I Love You?'" I showed him how to form each letter and he stuck with it until all done. Impressive! And Dad was SO proud!

When it was Grace's turn, she stood up tall, read clearly and very fast.

Saturday, May 24, 2014: 5K and pancake breakfast youth fundraiser at the church. Color Run!
Jonah came in 2nd place overall! I think about 30 runners total. He finished at around 30 minutes. Annabelle and Grace came in 6th and 7th place, about 32 minutes! They were splashed in color, but rolling down the hill later rubbed it all off.

Monday, May 26, 2014: Memorial Day: Annabelle and Jonah went to the pond for a picnic lunch. Shortly after leaving it started raining. They found a spot under a tree and had their picnic anyway. Then they played in the rain and in the pond. They sat in the sewer drain pipe and were pushed by the rushing water into the pond and loved it. At home, Grace Olivia and Finn also played in the rain - jumping on the trampoline.
